Spiderman PC version - REVIEW

Short and Precise, it was a decent game by all means. The only polished Spidey simulator (I'm not considering the Avengers game's Spidey rendition) that you can get in the market. at the moment. But I wouldn't consider it to be a masterpiece as the game's second act was filled with padded missions. Will explain everything Properly.

Let's start with the Positives that I felt

PROS

1.) The web-slinging is top-notch. I mean, it feels so satisfying to sling through the city every time.

Only towards the end, I started fast traveling and before that, I avoided it just to swing through the city. The web-slinging animation has been polished perfectly.

2.) The story. So what kind of story does a proper superhero game require to be a good game?

~ A decent superhero with nice traits.

~ A three-dimensional villain who has proper motives for his actions.

~ Proper Action set pieces.

~ Human emotions here and there. We can get all that here at an adequate amount. Neat Presentation.

3.) Visuals, Optimization for pc, and Photo mode - Cherry on the top. And that Photo mode is the best of the bunch. Robust one. Most of the photos, I was proud of them. The visuals were so good for the small map they created.

4.) DLCs were neat and story-driven. A nice touch here and there. Also liked the way they foreshadowed Miles here. Liked the set pieces with all the main villains too, was decent.

5.) Music was classy, really liked it.

Let's talk about the Negatives that I felt

CONS

1.) The Mission design & Mission variety.

This was the biggest drawback for me personally with the Spiderman game. So most of them are basically,

~ Drop into a warehouse or the particular designed level, clear up the thugs, and drop out. Very much reminiscent of the "Arkham series" mission style.

The second Act was filled with padding missions and could have been avoided.

MJ's stealth missions were totally out of place for a Spiderman game. I did not like the stealth missions even a bit, there are other stealth games like hitman which does "stealth" better and a Spiderman game doesn't need one.

Towards the end, the missions dragged too.

2.) The collectibles were annoying. I am completely aware that they are optional. But it's a crime to lock all those finely rendered Spidey suits behind the collectible mission. After a long time, in a video game, I collected 50+ bags and 10+ pigeons just for some suits and I did not enjoy it.

3.) Few bugs here and there. Nothing game-breaking, but it was there like audio glitching out and me getting stuck inside a building wall.

4.) Puzzles were god damn too many and all were padding. They have even given the option to turn off puzzles in the "accessibility" section.

THOUGHTS

Most of my complaints are from the mission variety and the "not so" Engaging open world (semi-open). Felt it to be an outdated design even for 2018 standards.

When it comes to combat, It is neither positive nor negative. It is functional and simple.

If we take out Spidey's story and his web-slinging from the equation, the open world and the mission design feel bare bones.

CONCLUSION

It was a Decent game with a nice climax showdown and solid set pieces here and there. Missions were a setback. Nothing more, nothing less.
